Virtual Customer Service Jobs

Welcome to the last video in this series on virtual customer service jobs. I invite you to share this video on your timeline for those who might be interested in working part-time at home.

Like all new positions, there is a process to learn. However, with the right information, you can learn freelance strategies for virtual customer service jobs easily.

First, I advise you to accept responsibility for your marketability. Although you are an independent contractor, you still have to comply with company guidelines. For these companies that means a background check and sometimes a drug screening. Next, as an independent contractor, it is important to monitor your time. I have worked in this industry since 2012, and I share that virtual customer service agents are better when they document their schedules. Documentation helps in 3 ways:

  • Choosing a schedule is different than having the standard 8 – 5 job so you can unintentionally miss a shift if you do not create a reminder of your selected work hours weekly.
  • Checking the scheduling system weekly to make sure the system agrees with your records will ensure correct payment.
  • Learning as much as you can so you can decide how you want to grow in this industry is imperative.

In all business models, documentation keeps all parties (the companies and contractors) accountable and efficient. It is the same for virtual customer service jobs. If you choose my company for your IBO, I share my record keeping process as a customer service professional. This is to avoid issues that could develop from not knowing. I share my experiences so you can avoid some pitfalls as a beginner.
